The US healthcare costs are among the highest in the world but the health of American’s doesn’t fit the bill. In light of this sad reality, a proposal has been made to expand the vital signs gathered in a healthcare setting from blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, and breathing rate to 15 vital signs to evaluate the quality of a person’s health. Some of these suggested signs are not too personal, like being overweight or life-expectancy. However signs like addictive behavior or personal spending burden is a little too whimsical, not very clinical. Those are things someone can easily fib. Looking at the list, I can’t help but wonder how honest we are with our healthcare professionals. Have you ever lied to your doctor? This is a judgement-free zone, like Planet Fitness.
