Is Hawaii’s New Smoking Age Limit Unfair?

age-smokingA new bill proposed in Hawaii will raise the legal smoking age to 21, on January 1, 2016. Researchers have found that raising the legal smoking age from 18 to 21 will significantly reduce the adverse health effects suffered by smokers. This ban also bans smoking electronic cigarettes for people under the age of 21 years old. On the same day this bill was passed, another bill banning smoking in all city and county parks in the county of Kaua’i.  Realistically, 18 year olds can enlist to fight for this country. According to this bill, these same soldiers cannot smoke. Is Hawaii’s new smoking age limit unfair?
