The New York Times published an article that made a clever and insightful declaration “Sleep is the New Status Symbol“. Sleep is one of the most necessary and underappreciated human desires. Alongside water and food, our bodies need it to recover from the necessary roughness of the daily grind. It’s no secret and many of us know this firsthand but as we age, we sleep less. As we sleep less, it’s killing us. In an aggressive effort to help remedy this life-threatening state of affairs, devices are popping up to nip this pandemic in the bud before it wipes us out. Aside from the obvious fact, lack of sleep weakens the immune system, adversely affects our moods, impairs our capacity to learn, and makes us unbearable. Bring the devices on ASAP, please! Don’t be fat and sad, as sleeplessness is shown to do to a body. Educate yourself on a sleep program, find yourself a Sleep Ambassador, and perhaps enroll yourself in an online sleep coach program like Sleepio. You don’t need to rely on IV drugs to put you into a proper REM sleep. This is a skill that’s honed with conviction, practice, and desire for a better quality of life. It’s a free commodity that adds value to every waking moment in your day. Smart decisions add value for a lifetime. Sleep on it.
