Disney might tout whistle while you work bought a new study says chewing gum while you walk may help with weight loss.
Walking it’s self is a pretty healthy activity. It’s low intensity, it’s blood pumping, and it encourages movement. So how exactly does a piece of chewing gum in your mouth add to this activity?
Almost all weight loss programs encourage physical exercise and walking is one of the easiest to do. But the study found that chewing gum while walking burns more calories than not chewing gum. Why you ask?
One group in the study walked and chewed gum. The control group did it a little differently. When the control group consumed the ingredients of gum separately, but not chewing, they didn’t burn the same amount of calories. Perhaps chewing does burn calories when you add a little blood rush.
I wonder if there’s something to be said for gum chewers and overall body mass index. Perhaps for blood pressure, no. In fact, this study found that chewing gum for overweight adults didn’t do much. Let’s agree – walking was the magic ingredient catalyzed by chewing sugar-free gum.
