Coffee to Protect the Aging Heart

With all the folks out there who run on Dunkin – we finally have another thing to celebrate in caffeine. A study out of Germany shows how caffeine improves heart health and enhances the ability to generate power to the body.

Researchers found that caffeine optimized the blood flow in the cells lining  the heart. As we age, people dismiss their dwindling endurance as part of getting older. But this new research may bust that myth.

Exactly how much caffeine provides the rejuvenating effects in the aging heart? Although the study was conducted on mice – the human equivalent is about 4 to 5 cups of coffee per day.
