Men have feelings too, ladies. A new study finds that a whopping 40% of men have reported feelings of sadness and emptiness after sex. Half of those men report it happening in the last month.
Typically this is something associated with women in their sexual engagements. The clinical name is post-coital dysphoria. As times are changing, men are coming to light to speak about their bedroom depressions.
Women and men alike describe the feeling as emptiness, sadness, and sense of self-loathing following sex. Is it simply bad sex or is there something deeper? In a study on twins, both reported having the “sad sex”, which could mean it’s genetic. Some researchers say it has to do with the dopamine-rebound effect. Coming down from the dopamine high is too sad to go unnoticed, I guess.
Survey says women having regular sex (semi-decent sex) are less stressed. Perhaps this works the same for the gentlemen. How do you solve a problem like Maria? Read some of the Facebook comments following the study and judge for yourself.
If you know you’re an after sex crybaby and your partner doesn’t dig it – maybe you two can work it out or choose a new way to get to the same destination without the emotional aftermath?
