The curious thing about expressing gratitude is that it makes us feel pretty good but the effect it has on the person being thanked may be more profound than we anticipated.
A more interesting effect of gratitude is that it’s even more compounded through the written word. Hmm. I text or email almost any correspondences I have in my life. Is technology corrupting my organic sense of appreciation? Apparently not.
That saying get out of your head is part of the reason why some of us don’t say or do what could ultimately spike momentary happiness for both parties. We think it’s more bothersome to the other person if we initiated the note of thanks. No way, Jose.
