An MRI scan validates that mindful people feel less pain. Mindfulness is related to being aware of the present moment without too much emotional reaction or judgment. Isn’t it perplexing how if we take emotion out of the equation, we are less affected?
Many pain and mental health experts agree that emotional traumas can result in physical pain. It can impair your immune system, psychology, and overall health. Perhaps being aware of a mindful technique will ease or alleviate your pain.
Being more mindful may be more simple than we realize. I overthink everything and that may be why I’m challenged by this practice. But the trick is to block-out distractions and observe the moment. Perfecting this skill may prove to be the best secret pain killer.
