#Food and #Cancer Risk

Nowadays, we all want to make wiser choices to avoid the downfall of cancer. That being said, a new study finds that organic foods can help minimize the risk of developing cancer.

The reality of cancer risks and lifestyle choices are more linked than some of us realize. A study found that 70% to 90% of cancers are caused by lifestyle choices or environment. In fact, people with higher incomes, who exercise more, and intentionally eat organic fare better in the long run.

Yes, breast cancer is in the back of every woman’s mind. For this reason, we regularly get mammograms. The American Cancer Society reports that 60% of men over the age of 65  will develop prostate cancer.

Now what? We can eat organic, exercise like our health depends on it and steer clear of undue stress. At the end of the day, opting for organic foods that we can afford might make all the difference? Memorize the Clean 15 and the Dirty Dozen. It never hurt anybody to be budget-conscious.

Decide which organic produce is worth the investment for you. Nitrates  are used as food preservatives. Added nitrates  may be associated with an increased risk of cancer. For good measure (no pun, intended) you can always measure the nitrites in your produce.
