allie3I’m Allie Beatty. I created Allie’s Voice to share my interest in diabetes with everybody.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) when I was 7 years old. Diabetes was difficult for me. In an effort to make it easier, I began talking about diabetes with anybody and everybody. It turns-out, there are a lot of people out there like me who are very curious about diabetes, both people who have diabetes and people who don’t have it.

Allie’s Voice About Diabetes is an internet radio show to answer all questions about diabetes. Questions and comments about diabetes come from Facebook, Twitter, hotline callers, and YouTube.

Allie’s Voice About Diabetes is a judgment-free zone where anyone can ask any question about diabetes. Both  diabetes advocates (T1D, T2D, or other) and a diabetes professional opinion (certified diabetes educator, doctor, or medical professional) are featured on the show.

Whether or not you have diabetes, you can ask anything you want to know about diabetes. We’re here to help. What would you like to know?

Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. Patients with high blood sugar will typically experience polyuria (frequent urination), they will become increasingly thirsty (polydipsia) and hungry (polyphagia).^,’-
